Obama lists Nigeria’s Tems, Burna Boy, Buju, Pheelz on 2022 Summer Playlist

The former President of the United States, Barack Obama, on Tuesday, released his annual summer music playlist on his social media handles where four Nigerian artistes are inclusive.

Four chart-topping Nigerian musicians who made the Obama’s 2022 summer playlist are Tems, Burna Boy, Buju, and Pheelz.

Finesse by Pheelz featuring Buju, currently known as BNXN, Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’and Tems’ and ‘Vibe Out’ were the songs that earned all four singers a place on the coveted list.

Also, Sampa the Great, a Zambian-born Australia-based rapper and songwriter, is the only other African aside the four Nigerians featured on the playlist.

Obama published his annual summer music playlist on his social media handles with a caption explaining how happy he is to share his favourite summer songs.

He tweeted: “Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.”

“Here’s what I’ve been listening to this summer. What songs would you add?”

Tems won the Best International Act at the 2022 BET Awards last month and she made history as the first Nigerian and African female musician to win the Best International Act at the BET Awards.
