Germany says 200 million euros pledged for Lebanon at aid summit

More than 200 million euros (235 million dollars) in emergency aid was pledged at an online international aid summit for Lebanon on Sunday, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said.

Germany was a participant at the meeting co-hosted by France and the United Nations. Both have yet to release information on the total amount of money committed, although individual countries have made their own announcements.

The French government said representatives from 36 countries and organizations took part in the meeting to raise funds to help the country recover from the massive deadly explosion in Beirut.

Among those attending were US President Donald Trump and Jordanian King Abdullah II.
