[BREAKING] Burnley prevent Liverpool’s 100% EPL home record

Burnley have prevented Liverpool from becoming the first side in Premier League history to win every single home match in a season.

Sean Dyche’s side earned a 1-1 draw at Anfield, despite falling behind to a brilliant header from Andy Robertson in the first half.

But Burnley, who are chasing a European spot – stayed in the game with some incredible saves from goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Then, with 20 minutes remaining, Burnley went and equalized. Jay Rodriguez turned and finished brilliantly past Alisson and into the bottom corner. It’s a case of 17 and out for Liverpool at home though.

They had won every single one of their Premier League matches at Anfield before Burnley arrived in town but they couldn’t make it 18 ahead of Chelsea’s visit next week.

The Reds must also now win all three of their remaining fixtures to break the Premier League points record.

The champions face Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle before the end of the season and their aim will be to win all three to smash that record.

Before the game against Burnley, Klopp insisted he wasn’t too worried about smashing the points record.

“What can I say? When I think about the next four opponents and think we will get 12, 10, or whatever points, I can’t do that,” said the Reds manager. “How could I assume we could get all these points? When I think about 92 points, I think how could we get 97 last year (finishing second), it’s unbelievable.

“First and foremost you have to fight for the three points. That’s what we did tonight and I like that a lot because that’s the mother and the father of each win that you really work hard for it, and the boys did that again, that’s great.”

As for Burnley, that point takes them above Tottenham into 9th, while they go level on points with Arsenal.
