Who Kidnapped Accord Party Rivers Assembly Candidate?

The quest for power can indeed drive a man to do the unthinkable. For political powers, friends and brothers turn enemies.

In the Nigerian political arena, getting political power through violence and other forms of evil have become a norms and part of the political structure.

The saying, ’Politics is a dirty game’,  has become a normal slogan.

Strange things continues to happen in Nigeria’s political space.

Ogbonna’s Kidnap

A member of Accord Party, Chukwudi Ogbonna, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

Ogbonna is the party’s candidate for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the March 18 election,

He was kidnaped while driving in his car at Rumuigbo, near Port Harcourt on Monday night.

The gunmen forced him to stop and whisked him away with his car.

The candidate’s close relative, Ifeaka Nwakiri on Tuesday morning, says “They took him with his Mercedes car. We have reported the matter at the Kala Police station.”

The Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) Sobomabo Jackrich also confirmed the incident on live television on Tuesday.

Who knows what would have been the fate of Labour Party Governorship candidate in Taraba State, Philip Munlip, if he had not written his withdrawal letter.

The LP candidate later says he wrote his withdrawal letter under duress.

Munlip says he was put under pressure by the party’s chairperson in the state, Easter Gulmu to withdraw from the March 18 election.
